Very Decorative Oushak Carpet
Woven in the workshops of Western Anatolia at the end of the Ottoman period, this lovely carpet has an all wool foundation and a very limited but decorative range of natural dyes. However, the feature that makes this carpet click, is stylised palmette and vine design on an ivory field which is extremely easy on the the eye. Beautifully spaced, it reveals a very different aesthetic to many other oriental carpets. Furthermore the design is all about the field which is expansive while the borders although certainly pretty are there more as a frame. Note the interesting pale blues, greens and gingers used as secondary colours while the border is a very nice soft sapphire blue. Note also the large size, so rare to find in a lovely carpet like this. This is a rare and beautiful carpet which would work well in both traditional and contemporary settings and in all kinds of spaces. professionally cleaned and with minor restorations, this carpet is ready for immediate use.
