Fine Isfahan Rug

Even compared to other rugs of this genre and period, this lovely Isfahan rug has an exceptionally high knot count, with fine grainy wool and wonderful dyes. In particular I like the burnt orange shades and the greens. The central anchor medallion is glorious and is surrounded by a slightly angular drawing of spiralling arabesques and spandrels. The main border is equally beautiful and complements the field well. This is a very decorative furnishing piece which is enhanced by the changes of colour or abrashes that run through the design. This piece has survived in very good condition and would enhance many decorative settings despite the slight tapering at the top end.
