I established Aaron Nejad Antique Carpets in 1994 specialising in antique and decorative carpets, rugs and textiles from all the important weaving centres in the East and Europe. Over that time I have built a reputation for honesty and integrity offering beautiful, rare and decorative items at fair prices.
I have always been fascinated by the relationship between colour, space and design in antique carpets, rugs and textiles, what I refer to as 'woven art'. In the early days, my focus was on tribal rugs and weavings, particularly those from Persia. Over the years, my interests broadened to include rugs, carpets and textiles from Turkey, Uzbekistan, the Caucasus, Turkmenistan, China and elsewhere, including European tapestries and embroidery. I have travelled extensively in the East, and have been involved in establishing new weaving projects in China. I have also had the opportunity to lecture and write about Persian carpets, Ukrainian kilims and many other topics, and am a regular contributor to "Hali" magazine, the leading international journal of antique carpet and textile art.
Over the years, I have participated in many UK and international exhibitions and antiques fairs, such as Olympia Fine Art Fair London, the Hali Fair, and the Decorative Fair, Battersea. In 2011, I launched the inaugural London Antique Rug and Textile Art Fair (LARTA) which has become part of the annual events calendar.
