The Gol Farang, or ''foreign rose'' is a design that the Baktiars and other Persian weavers borrowed from European decorative arts, hence the term ''foreign''. Colorfully drawn in a naturalistic way, and enclosed within a cartouche in the neo-classical manner, the gol farang dominates the rug. Similar floral ornaments appear in the corners of the field while the whole composition is framed by narrow borders. This is a striking and stylish Persian rug which would suit a space which needs a dash of colour. The rug has a thin even pile with the elusive lived in look. Professionally cleaned and ready for immediate use. Dates to the end of the 19th century.
