Woven at the end of the 17th century, this is an exceptional wool and silk Aubusson Biblical Tapestry. It depicts the moment that Pharoh's daughter, Batya, and her maidservants discover baby Moses in the bulrushs by the River Nile. Batya is seen in the centre wearing a crown surrounded by courtiers and maidservants. The Nile river can be seen to the left. It is an elegant composition. The figures are beautifully drawn, as is the landscape to the rear. Restored to a very high standard, this piece is in really excellent condition. Professionally cleaned in our workshops.
