Woven in twenty narrow strips and then sewn together, this is an impressive Kente cloth by the Eve or Asante of Ghana. The fine workmanship and larger than average size suggests it was made for a dignitary for use on special occasions. The limited palette in shades of blue, grey and white cotton are used to create geometric perfection. Note the skirts at each end in a different pattern. The result is an outstanding weaving which works as both a modernist artwork or as a cover. Clean and in excellent condition.
