THis rare item was probably woven by the Shahsavan tribe in north-west Persia, and suggests a weaving date towards the middle of the 19th century. Note the drawing of the repeat medallions, but I especially like the amber main border with \'S\' motifs, which may possibly be stylised dragons. This is a fascinating piece with high decorative appeal
