Glaoui Rug

Glaoui Rug

This striking Glaoui rug was woven by the Berbers in the High Atlas Mountains, Morocco. It has wonderfully soft wool, great natural dyes and a riotous design of multiple geometric ornaments, including repeating lozenges, chevrons, and stepped diamonds. The movement of colour and design is kaleidoscopic and mesmerising, holding the viewer's gaze. One can imagine this beauty on the wall in a contemporary setting, or on on a floor adding colour and style. Note also the simple charming borders with their changes of colour, and the little knotted elements added into the kilim ends. The whole composition is delightful and would add much joy to any setting. Professionally cleaned and in good condition. Minor areas of repiling.
