-DE362.jpg "Scandinavian Wool Rug - There is a long tradition of rug weaving in Scandinavia, notably in Sweden and Norway. This piece dates to around 1970 and fits well with the contemporaneous design and style trends of the period. Large flowers in bright shades of orange and apricot on a brown field feel like they are jumping from the surface of the rug. The design is simple yet striking. Fine wool quality. Rare square size. One can imagine this rug in any modern setting.")

-RR81.jpg "Fereghan Carpet With Open Field Design - Known in Persia as the 'Met Hane' design, the open field design in one abrashed colour is rarely seen in room-size carpets. However, the beautiful shades of terracotta in this piece is a fine example how texture and composition can be created by the use of subtle changes in the same colour, known as abrash. The field is framed by a classic Fereghan border of stylised palmettes and meandering vines. It is more than likely that this carpet was made to order. One wonders what kind of space it was made for, perhaps a dining room, or a snooker room? Maybe just for a grand hallway or lobby. Whatever its original purpose, this is an engaging and beautiful carpet which would work well in many contemporary or traditional decorative settings today. Professionally cleaned, and ready for immediate use.")
-AL62.jpg "Long Persian Wool Runner, - This is striking Persian runner from the Sultanabad district in West Persia. The design is dominated by two dramatically drawn medallions in a lovely sky-blue on a sapphire background. The medallions are surrounded by stylised palmettes and plants drawn in a charming angular manner. The design is freely drawn, displaying the weaver's artistic skills. This is a visual feast, and is a demonstration of Persian village weaving at its best. The materials, handspun wool and natural dyes, are excellent. Furthermore the size is excellent, exceptionally narrow for a piece of this length. Cherished through the generations, it has survived in excellent condition. Professionally cleaned in our workshops, it is ready for immediate use.")
-HA7532.jpg "Fine Melayir Rug - This handsome Persian village rug comes from the Hamadan region and was woven either in Melayir or nearby Mehraban. Either way, it has several superior features. The proportions to the design are very nice, aided by the slightly wider than normal rug format. Clearly the weaver wanted to create something special. The Herati design in the field is spacious and elegant. Note the very cute little spandrels in light blue. The border is also very pretty in a sapphire blue. The weave is very fine and the hand spun wool has a soft velvety touch. The pile is thin, fine and in excellent condition. All the dyes are natural. Professionally cleaned and ready for immediate use.")
-SW990.jpg "Striking Sarab Runner - This handsome runner is very beautiful designed with fine camel wool and wonderful dyes. I would date it to around 1870. Note the ton-sur-ton field and the medallions which appear to be floating above the field. Although it is in generally good pile, unfortunately it has lost the borders at each end. It is still nevertheless a very decorative and impressive runner which would light up many settings.")
-AF2.jpg "Fine Hamadan Rug - Hamadan rugs are one of my favourite groups of Persian rugs. Their bold drawing and colours often result in very beautiful compositions, and are underappreciated expressions of Persian folk-art. This piece is a fine example. Probably woven in the village of Mehraban in the Hamadan district, it boasts glossy wool and a fine weave with the typical single-wefted structure. The design represents 2 long-stemmed flowers emanating from each end of the field which are surrounded by other large scale flowers, palmettes and leaves. The forms are almost abstract and are woven in daring colours in greens, pinks and light blues. The midnight blue field gives the whole composition a three-dimensional feel. The field is framed by a lovely light blue border. In excellent condition, this piece has been professionally washed by ourselves and is ready for immediate use, whether on a wall or floor.")
-CH76.jpg "Tibetan Saddle Cover - This is a lovely piece with soft fleecy wool and great dyes. Note the apricot field and raspberry border. Attractive ornamentation. The composition is highly graphic and would work equally well on a wall or floor. It is in excellent original condition and has recently been professionally cleaned.")
