English Embroidery with Persian Design

Embroidered on 4 narrow linen panels, this is a charming English embroidery with a distinctly Persian influence. In the foreground a princely figure is seated, feasting in a rural landscape, with a deer and a flowing river. To the rear is a skeletal mountain range with another princely figure who appears to be hunting. The whole scene is delicately drawn, and the workmanship is excellent. Probably made in a domestic rather than commercial setting. Clean and in excellent condition. This is a very decorative textile that would would work well in many kinds of settings
