Tetex Carpet

Tetex carpets are a type of high quality hooked rug which were made in Germany in the early 20th century. They often have outstanding wool quality and dyes, replicating classic Persian and Caucasian designs. Interestingly, these products are becoming more widely appreciated for their decorative quality, and this piece suggests the reasons. The wool is very high grade, and the classic 'Avshan' design with Kufic border, often seen on Shirvan and Kuba rugs, is instantly recognisable and very attractive. The colours are also very attractive, with delightful greens, yellows, purples and light blues, all against a glowing sapphire blue background. Notably,this piece has survived in amazingly good condition with a glossy full pile, and its original ends and sides. All we had to do to it was give it a good bath. Tetex carpets are still affordably priced, but as their reputation spreads, prices are likely to go much higher.
