Fereghan Carpet

Large Fereghan carpets of any colour and design are becoming increasingly hard to source. Dark blue Herati design examples do appear on occasion. So I was delighted to find this beauty recently in the English countryside.The repeating design of stylised fans and floral ornaments is delightful, and is enhanced by ivory background in the field and delicate range of secondary colours. Note the gorgeous terracotta main border with the classic Fereghan design of palmettes, blossoms and meandering vines. This is an attractive and decorative country house style carpet in an excellent size. The overall condition is good. The ends and sides are intact, and the selvages are original. The pile is generally good throughout with areas of minor wear in places. If you are looking for a decorative antique carpet, this rare beauty is a great choice, and would enhance any number of settings.
