Fine Melayir Rug
This handsome Persian village rug comes from the Hamadan region and was woven either in Melayir or nearby Mehraban. Either way, it has several superior features. The proportions to the design are very nice, aided by the slightly wider than normal rug format. Clearly the weaver wanted to create something special. The Herati design in the field is spacious and elegant. Note the very cute little spandrels in light blue. The border is also very pretty in a sapphire blue. The weave is very fine and the hand spun wool has a soft velvety touch. The pile is thin, fine and in excellent condition. All the dyes are natural. Professionally cleaned and ready for immediate use.
