Qashqai Rug
This classic Qashqai rug is woven on a woolen foundation with high quality wool pile and natural dyes. The anchor medallion in the field is centred by a dramatic geometric ornament which is then repeated in the spandrels. The rest of the field is filled with stylised floral ornaments and dramatic horses as seen on the pillars in Persepolis. Note also the colourful chevron ornaments on the sides of the field. All this is framed by classic stylised floral borders. It's a delightful composition, full of tribal character. The colours are delicious, especially a very lovely apricot and light blue. Used carefully over the generations, it has survived in generally good condition with only minor signs of wear. The ends and selvages are intact. Professionally cleaned in my workshop.
