Tabriz Runner
Narrow Persian runners are always popular, and are becoming increasingly difficult to source. So I was delighted to find this pretty Tabriz runner which dates to the early 20th century. The lemon yellow background is really striking and is decorated with an elegant arrangement of stylised blossoms and leaves. Note too the lovely secondary colours including a pale green, salmon pink and light blue. It is a dramatic composition which is framed by a much more conservative narrow main border which is there almost in deference to the originality of the field. An added bonus is the workshop signature which reads 'Fabrike Ghalibafi Ghanadi', woven by the Ghanadai Carpet Workshop, a famous carpet weaving family in Tabriz in the early 20th century. The condition is generally good and usable with minimal signs of wear commensurate with the age. Professionally cleaned.
