Decorative Oushak Carpet

This Oushak carpet from Western Anatolia dates to around 1900. It has a very delicate palette dominated by the pale abrashed green field which is centred by a simple anchor medallion filled with stylised flowers. Note two the caramel outer field decorated with an angular scrolling vine, and the main pale brown border with repeating palmettes and leaves. Its a very elegant composition which would work well in any formal setting. With a solid and high pile which has survived the generations well, this carpet would provide durable use. Excellent overall condition. Professionally cleaned in our workshop.
