Part-Silk Teheran Carpet
This is a gem-like Persian carpet. dating to the early 20th century, it is finely knotted with Kurk wool and silk in the details. Teheran carpets borrow designs from the classic Persian repertoire. The repeating palmette and leaf design with meandering vines on a glowing turquoise green field is so elegant and is reminiscent of earlier Safavid carpets. Note the small birds and deer in the details and the use of silk highlights. The lovely border complements the field so well with a palmette and split leaf design on a ruby field. This is a supremely elegant and decorative carpet which has survived the generations well with only minor signs of wear and corrosion. Professionally cleaned in our workshop.
