Heriz Carpet

Dating to the late 19th century, this Heriz carpet from North-West Persia has great decorative appeal. The abrashed terracotta field is decorated with an elegantly drawn all-over design of stylised palmettes, lanceolate leaves, and skeletal meandering vines. The secondary colours are quite exquisite, including lovely greens, light blues, pinks and yellows. The composition is framed by a wide main sapphire blue border decorated dramatically with large serrated leaves and other floral motifs. The balance of the design is perfect are the colours. Professionally cleaned, it is ready for immediate use. It has the typical durable Heriz structure, and is very good condition.
