Afshar Rug

This nomadic rug has borrowed a design from the classical Persian medallion carpet tradition, but has adapted it in a strikingly graphic way. Note the oversize anchors at the ends of the medallion and the dancing figures. The checkerboard that surrounds the medallion is beautifully detailed. Some minor corrosion to the indigo dye in the field, otherwise in very good condition.
