Bakshaish Floral Medallion Carpet

This delightful small Bakshaish weaving. But the design is somewhat out of character. The large floral anchor medallion is drawn in a very naturalistic manner as are some of the other floral elements, including the botehs in the spandrels and blossoms in the field. However the soft wool quality and wonderful colours which includes a really subtle terracotta and two shades of pale blue are very much in the Bakshaish repertoire. It is a really decorative little carpet which coupled with the squarish format makes it a rare treasure. Clean and in very good condition. There are some minor spots of repiling which have been executed very professionally.
