Fine Melayir Rug
This is one of my favourite recent acquisitions. The colours are simply delightful while the design is jewel-like. The beautiful central anchor medallion appears to be floating above the pink field while the floral arrangement in the spandrels and sides are playful and charming. The field is complemented by the sapphire blue border which has a repeating design of serrated leaves and floral blossoms. The weave has the typical fine Melayir structure and the wool quality is exceptional. There have been a few minor restorations in the past, but they have been professionally executed. Professionally cleaned by ourselves. This is a really exceptional Persian village rug.
