Unusual Khamseh Rug

This lovely Persian tribal rug was woven by the Khamseh tribe of southern Persia at the end of the 19th century. The design is composed of repeating botehs in the mother and child format, with each boteh containing its own array of ornamentation. It is a joyful rug which represents the tradition so well. It has an all wool foundation and a soft pile of hand-spun wool. In good condition, and has recently been professionally cleaned.
