Serapi Rug

Woven in the Azerbaijan region of North-West Persia in the last quarter of the 19th century, this is a very pretty rug with happy colours and a pleasing design. The squarish format is also attractive and lends itself to being used in many decorative settings. The geometric medallion is intricately drawn and is surrounded by lanceolate leaves drawn in beautiful terracottas and greens. The ivory ground is itself quite rare. The lovely border is also beautifully drawn with an array of happy colours. Solid structure and good wool has resulted in a durable rug which has survived the generations in good condition. Professionally cleaned by ourselves.
