Vintage Qashqai Gabbeh
This rug has an interesting story. I purchased it some 20 years and subsequently sold it to the late Peter Willborg from Stockholm, one of the best rug dealers I have ever known. I recently discovered that the rug was being offered in auction in Stockholm with a provenance attributed to Peter Willborg, and I knew I had to buy it back. Woven by the Qashqai weavers of South Persia, it is woven almost entirely with undyed sheeps' wool on a wool foundation. One is immediately struck by the strong minimalist graphics, which, combined with a limited colour range has created a dramatic piece of modernist textile art. In good condition and professionally cleaned in our own workshops.
