Fine Karaja Rug

Fine Karaja Rug

Small antique Karaja rugs are always popular, but are becoming increasingly hard to find, especially pieces of this fine quality. The weave is to a very high standard with a soft wool and low clipped pile which gives the design great definition. The three geometric medallions on a blue ground is ubiquitous, but the borders with their repeating stylised palmettes and leaves are very unusual. In addition, the soft palette is very attractive, and gives the rug a very elegant and harmonious appearance. Cherished through the generations, this rug has survived in lovely original condition with minimal signs of wear. The original selvages have survived. Professionally cleaned. This is a very decorative little rug that would light up many settings, both traditional and contemporary.
