Fine Senneh Rug With Botehs

Fine Senneh Rug With Botehs

Repeating botehs on a white background is an attractive combination. This rug is finely knotted with a low clipped pile. The origins of the boteh motif appear to be in Indian Art, but it has been adopted by Persian craftsmen and artists myriad times over the centuries, and arguably reached its zenith in the 19th century rugs and embroideries of Kerman and Senneh in the 19th century. This rug is decorated with repeating botehs on a white background, an attractive combination. It is finely knotted with a low clipped pile. Very good secondary colours. Nice even pile and good original condition. Professionally cleaned.
