A Pair of Suzani Border Panels
This impressive pair of border panels must have been part of a very grand piece. The design is spacious and elegantly drawn with some exquisite colours, in particular the lovely dark aubergine and light blue, which also suggest an early dating. Fortunately the two pieces have survived in a similar condition and size, and work very well together. Now stretched and mounted, they would make wonderful wall hangings. True textile art! The dimensions are 1.89m x 0.46m and 1.89m x 0.44m.
Minor areas of old repair to the embroidery. A few small stains. Otherwise very good condition. Professionally cleaned. Mounted.
